The USPTO announced that the Registration Exam will be “updated” starting October 4, 2014. That’s good news all the way around.
For one thing: There is NO new material here. They’re just updating the Exam to test the new (9th) edition of the MPEP. All the new edition of the MPEP does is
incorporate most of the things that the PTO was already testing from a dozen Federal Register Notices.
Second good thing: This change will make your “look-up” searches easier. You’ll be able to look up almost all of the testable material in the appropriate MPEP
chapter. You won’t have to worry that there’s a new rule in one of the Federal Register Notices and so you have to check both documents.
But, again, bottom line: NO NEW CONTENT! You won’t have to learn anything new for the “new” Exam.
If you bought our course already, you already have all of the content tested on the Exam (whether before September 30th or after October 3rd).
If you haven’t bought a course yet, don’t decide based on this when to take the Exam. It doesn’t matter. The only difference is that “look-ups” will be slightly
easier starting October 4th. Buy a course and start to study whenever you can find 200 hours total to prepare over about two months. We’ll prepare you either way!
(Note that there will be no Exams available from Tuesday September 30th thru Friday October 3rd as they update to the new Exam.)
