Why You Should Attend

Understanding Patent Law 2017 continues the tradition of this annual PLI program, reviewing patent law basics, new legal developments and practical takeaways for lawyers of all experience levels operating in the field.

The agenda begins with a survey of the patent law foundations, covering the overall patent life cycle, how to prepare and file a patent application, along with patent issuance and prosecution. Attendees will learn about the rights afforded to patent holders, the picture of patent infringement and litigation strategies, including PTO proceedings.  Closing the day, attendees will see how patent deals are done.  Our faculty will share insights into how patent licensing, M&A and other transactions are executed.

Throughout the program, our esteemed faculty will reference the latest case law and related legal developments to ensure that the agenda's lessons are taught with the most current understanding of patent law.  Patent law has grown to become one of the most sophisticated and controversial areas of intellectual property law.  Whether you are new to the practice or a seasoned attorney in the field, this program should deliver relevant and timely content that should be helpful to you.
