Overview

Corporate governance issues continue to make headlines in the financial press.  The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development updated its Principles of Corporate Governance in 2015 to address corporate governance challenges and developments and to promote effective corporate governance.  The Principles were originally published in 1999 and last revised in 2004.  The Principles provide an international framework for assessing effective corporate governance and are one of the Key Standards for Sound Financial Systems recognized by the Financial Stability Board, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund.  The review process was open to OECD and G20 members as well as emerging market countries and to public consultation.

PLI’s panel of experts will conduct an examination of:

  • the history of the Principles;
  • the work of the OECD’s Corporate Governance Committee;
  • recent revisions to the Principles; and
  • how the Principles will be used and what they mean for the private sector.
