YABO LIN is a partner in Sidley's Palo Alto office. Mr. Lin regularly counsels clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, technology transactions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and corporate governance. He has represented U.S. and Asia-based clients in U.S. and cross-border M&A and other transactions. These transactions have covered a wide range of industries, including information technology, telecom, clean tech, metal, renewable energy, utilities, and transportation. In the general corporate area, he counsels companies in matters involving regulatory, intellectual property, risk management and compliance. Mr. Lin has also counseled foreign clients on transactions involving U.S. national security issues in connection with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. ("CFIUS").
Born and raised in China, Mr. Lin was a licensed attorney in China before coming to the U.S. In 2006, Mr. Lin received the highest honor given, the Trailblazer Award, from the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) for "making substantial and lasting contributions to the Asian Pacific American Community." He was included in the "Best Lawyers under 40" by NAPABA in 2004, and in the "40 under Forty" by
Ingram's in 2006.
In 2005, the President of American Bar Association appointed Mr. Lin to its six-member board of the Asia Rule of Law Initiative Council. In 2009, he was appointed Co-Chairman of the ABA Asia Rule of Law Advisory Board, serving with Justice Anthony M. Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Lin is also a board member of the Edgar Snow Memorial Fund and the California Asia Business Council and an Advisory Board member of the Asia Law Alliance (a pro bono legal aid group in Silicon Valley). He is an adjunct law professor at Sun Yat-Sen University School of Law.
