Bill McKee is a member of Bingham's Tax Group. His practice encompasses all areas of federal taxation, with a special emphasis on partnership taxation. He was one of the founding partners of McKee Nelson, which joined Bingham in 2009.
Bill served as tax legislative counsel at the U.S. Treasury Department from 1981 to 1983. He is a member of the American Law Institute and the American College of Tax Counsel.
He was a law professor at the University of Virginia School of Law from 1969 to 1981. He also was a visiting professor in the Graduate Tax Program at the New York University School of Law from 1975 to 1977.
Bill is co-author of the treatise
Federal Taxation of Partnerships and Partners (Warren, Gorham & Lamont, 4th edition, 2007), and also co-authored
Structuring and Drafting Partnership Agreements: Including LLC Agreements (Warren, Gorham & Lamont, 3rd edition, 2003). He is a frequent speaker at seminars around the country on the subject of partnership taxation and has written numerous articles.
A graduate of Harvard Law School, he was an editor of the
Harvard Law Review.
Bill has been named one of the leading practitioners in the field of taxation by
Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business since 2000 and by
Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business since 2002. He is featured in the
Guide to the World's Leading Tax Advisors, and he has been listed in
The Best Lawyers in America for the last 20 years.
