Tad Philipp joined CWCapital Investments (CWCI) in 2008 as Managing Director of the company's CW Risk Management Solutions unit. In this role, Mr. Philipp is responsible for developing and marketing the risk management group's platform, which enables CWCI to deliver its proprietary analytics and underwriting to portfolio lenders, securities investors and other clients. Offerings include valuation, portfolio optimization and credit risk management services. Mr. Philipp was promoted in 2009 to Chief Risk Officer of CW Financial Services, the parent company of CWCI, with oversight for risk management across the platform (lending, servicing and investing). He continues to oversee advisory services, which include CW Risk Management Solutions as well as the Maximus economic consulting unit.
Prior to joining CWCI, Mr. Philipp was with Moody's Investors Service for 17 years, for most of that time as Managing Director of their US Commercial Mortgage Finance Group. He is widely known in the commercial mortgage industry for his move in early 2007 to increase CMBS subordination levels in response to declining lending standards, as well as for his role in developing probability of default risk models and commercial property valuation indices that have been widely adopted by investors and lenders.
Mr. Philipp received a Bachelor of Arts from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University.
