Stuart Chessman is Director, Taxes at Vivendi. Vivendi is a global media and communications company. Created by the merger of Vivendi, The Seagram Company Ltd. and Canal+ in December of 2000, Vivendi businesses include the Universal Music Group, the world's largest music company. The group has a significant presence in interactive games, through its Vivendi Games unit. Vivendi also owns a majority interest in Cegetel Group, France's leading private telecommunications operator. Mr. Chessman joined Vivendi in May of 2002 from United Technologies Corporation (UTC), where he served as Director, International Taxes.
Mr. Chessman is a graduate of Georgetown University. He received his J.D. from Cornell law school where he was on the law review. He also earned a Master of Laws degree in Taxation from New York University School of Law and studied at the Universities of Cologne and Freiburg in Germany. Mr. Chessman has given presentations on international tax matters for educational and professional organizations. He is a member the International Bar Association.
