Steve Brody is a partner in the Washington, DC office of O'Melveny & Myers LLP, where he is a member of the Class Actions, Mass Torts and Insurance Litigation practice group, serving as the co-head of the drug and medical device subgroup. Steve is a trial lawyer and works on a wide variety of complex, aggregated litigation, with a primary focus on State Attorney General investigations and litigation, consumer fraud class actions, and products liability litigation. He also has an active appellate practice, and has recently handled appeals in Louisiana, Arkansas, South Carolina, Virginia, and the 8th, 11th, and DC Circuits. Before joining O'Melveny, Steve was the Acting Director of the Tobacco Litigation Team at the U.S. Department of Justice. In that role, and in his prior role as the team's Deputy Director, Steve led a team of 35 Justice Department lawyers through four years of discovery on three continents and a nine-month civil RICO trial against major cigarette manufacturers in one of the largest civil cases ever brought by the Department of Justice. Steve is a member of the faculty for the National Trial Advocacy College. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia and the Board of Directors for the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. He has been named a Life Sciences Star by Euromoney's Legal Media Group and a Washington Superlawyer.
