Sharon Liu is a Tax Managing Director in KPMG's Chicago Economic and Valuation Services Tax practice. Sharon joined KPMG in 1999. Ms. Liu also worked in KPMG Australia's Global Transfer Pricing Services Group. She graduated with a B.A. in Economics, from the University of Chicago and holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
Professional and Industry Experience
Sharon's relevant experience includes conducting transfer pricing studies for tangible and intangible property and intercompany services, and determining reasonable transaction prices that meet an arm's-length standard. She also has experience in performing discounted cash flow, market capital, and multiple-based analyses to identify arm's-length transfer prices for valuations of intangible property. Sharon has been lead project manager in several significant intellectual property transfer pricing engagements including the following:
- Feasibility modeling associated with migrating technology and marketing intellectual property rights to off-shore holding company;
- Implementation of European transfer pricing supply chain restructuring involving the establishment of a European principal company;
- Preparation and submission of Advance Pricing Agreement covering cost sharing of technology; and
- Implementation of a global intercompany service and royalty arrangement across 600 worldwide business units.
Sharon has also assisted clients in audit disputes related to intellectual property, tangible property, and services transactions.
