Scott Naatjes was named Vice President Tax and Customs, General Tax Counsel in March of 2009. Scott is responsible for Cargill’s worldwide tax & customs planning, audit & compliance functions.
Scott oversees a staff of over 230 tax professionals in 30 different countries, most of whom are either CPAs or Lawyers and many of which also hold graduate tax or business degrees. He is also responsible for managing tax & customs aspects of acquisitions, dispositions, corporate restructuring and on-going business operations for Cargill, one of the world’s largest private companies, with more than $120 billion in revenues and over 160,000 employees located in 67 countries.
Scott earned both a Juris Doctorate and Masters of Business Administration from Yale University in 1994, and a B. A. in economics from Brigham Young University in 1990.
Scott joined Cargill as a Tax Counsel in November of 1996. Prior to joining Cargill, Scott was an Associate at Dorsey & Whitney in Minneapolis. Scott also worked as a law clerk for Judge J. Daniel Mahoney of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.
Scott is a member of the Tax Executives Institute, the American Bar Association, the Minnesota Bar Association, the Tax Study Group and the Tax Leadership Roundtable of the Corporate Executive Board.
