Scott W. Bauguess (Assistant Director, Office of Corporate Finance) joined the SEC in July 2007 as a Visiting Academic Scholar from Texas Tech University, and gave up his academic position in 2009 to assume full-time responsibilities at the Commission. Dr. Bauguess received his Ph.D. in Finance from Arizona State University in 2004 and prior to that spent six years working as an electrical engineer in the semiconductor industry. His research interest centers on issues related to corporate finance and governance, and his work has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, and Journal of Banking and Finance.
