Richard Johns has had a legal career spanning 30 years providing legal services to a variety of healthcare clients based in the United States and Europe. He possesses expertise in healthcare business, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic planning, regulatory, and compliance. Throughout his career, Mr. Johns has accumulated experience in working closely with, and earning the trust of, boards of directors and senior management. He has served in the role of both outside counsel and in-house counsel, allowing him the opportunity to see and understand both the perspective of independent advisor and corporate teammate in the context of all facets of the healthcare environment, including civil and criminal government investigations.
Mr. Johns is currently serving as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Alliance HealthCare Services, Inc. (AIQ), a publicly traded, leading national provider of advanced outpatient diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology services based in Newport Beach, California.
Mr. Johns received his J.D. degree in 1982 from the University of Southern California. He received his B.S. degree in 1979 from Pacific Union College, and also attended University of Maryland and Harvard University as an undergraduate.
Mr. Johns began his legal career by working with law firms in the Washington, D.C. and Denver areas. In 1998, Mr. Johns transitioned his practice to Foley & Lardner. After more than 10 years as a partner at Foley, Mr. Johns established a solo-practice law firm in order to devote his fulltime attention to a number of strategic and legal matters for a multi-national, European-based medical device client. Immediately prior to joining Alliance, Mr. Johns served for two years as General Counsel for LaVie Care Centers, a national long-term care company with revenues in excess of $1 billion.
