RICHARD D'AVINO, is currently Vice President and Senior Tax Counsel, General Electric Company. Rick graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School Summa Cum Laude (1976) and its Law School, J.D. Cum Laude (1980). Following law school, he clerked for Judge Alvin B. Rubin on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (1980-1981) and was an associate at Cohen & Uretz in Washington, D.C. (1981-1983). He served as an Attorney-Advisor and Deputy Tax Legislative Counsel in the U.S. Treasury Department from 1983-1987. Prior to joining GE in 1991, he was a partner at King & Spalding in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the ABA Section on Taxation and the Washington, D.C. Bar. Rick was a member of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council (2002-2005), an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center (1983 - 1991), and a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association's Tax Section.
