Nina Loewenstein

Nina Loewenstein graduated from New York University School of Law in 1992. She then clerked for Justice Alan Handler of the New Jersey Supreme Court, where she reviewed death penalty cases for the Court. Since 2001 she has been a Staff Attorney at Disability Advocates, Inc., a public interest law firm in Albany, N.Y. which provides representation to individuals with disabilities and conducts impact litigation as part of New York's protection and advocacy system. She was the primary attorney at Disability Advocates on Disability Advocates Inc. v. NYS Office of Mental Health et al. (DAI v. OMH), a lawsuit challenging inadequate mental health treatment in New York state prisons.  Disability Advocates was one of three advocacy offices monitoring the settlement of DAI v. OMH from 2007 through its conclusion in 2011.
