Michael Singer

Michael Singer is a writer-humorist living in New York City.  He graduated from Brandeis University (A.B. 1983) and Boston University School of Law (J.D. 1986), where he was the editor of the Boston University Law Review.

Mr. Singer was a law clerk to four Illinois Appellate Court justices, a litigation associate at a major law firm, an Assistant Illinois Attorney General, staff attorney at the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and Assistant Professor of legal writing at John Marshall Law School.  He also wrote and performed comedy as a founding member of Chicago's Annoyance Theater and as a stand-up comic, until he moved to New York in 1998, where he wrote and edited an award-winning book about dogs and was co-founder of Comedy Company NYC.

In 2003, he created and began writing and editing a weekly series of online newsletters for Practising Law Institute, including The Lawyers Toolbox, PLIs Guide to All-Star Briefing, Compliance Counselor and Pocket MBA: Everything an Attorney Needs to Know About Finance.
