Mary Johannes is the Senior Director and Head of US Public Policy for the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) in Washington, DC, and represents ISDA before Congress and the regulators. She is responsible for leading ISDA's advocacy and educational efforts on the US legislative and regulatory initiatives regarding the derivatives industry.
Ms. Johannes has extensive experience representing financial services companies in Washington. She began her career as a regulatory counsel for the American Bankers Association and served as an enforcement attorney for the Federal Reserve Board. Ms. Johannes also served as the legislative manager for financial services at Ford Motor Credit Company, responsible for the development and implementation of federal and state legislative strategies. While at FMCC, Ms. Johannes led the company's efforts to ensure the benefits of secured lending in consumer bankruptcy. Prior to joining ISDA, Ms. Johannes was the Director of Federal Agencies Relations for Freddie Mac.
Ms. Johannes is a graduate of Hope College and received her JD from the Washington College of Law, American University.
