Mark S. Perwien is a Special Counsel in the Office of the Associate Chief Counsel (Financial Institutions and Products). He is currently acting as a Senior Advisor, Financial Products for the Financial Services Industry Director. He is an expert in the taxation of financial derivatives. He worked on Wall Street for many years, advising the sales and trading desks on the tax consequences of their activities both for the firms and the customers. He has also helped design many financial products to insure their tax efficiency.
He received his B.A. in Urban Studies and B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, his M.B.A. from Wharton, his J.D. from Stanford University, and his L.L.M. in taxation from New York University.
