MARK L. TUFT
Mark L. Tuft is a partner with Cooper, White & Cooper LLP in San Francisco. He serves as counsel to lawyers and law firms on professional responsibility, professional liability, law firm mergers and dissolutions and State Bar disciplinary matters. Mr. Tuft is certified by the State Bar of California as a specialist in legal malpractice law. His practice includes legal malpractice defense, media law and related first amendment litigation and defense of individuals and businesses in civil and criminal matters. He also serves as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in lawyer-client and law firm disputes. Mr. Tuft is a co-author of The California Practice Guide on Professional Responsibility (The Rutter Group, a division of West, a Thomson Reuters business, 2012) Mr. Tuft obtained his J.D. degree with honors from Hastings College of the Law in 1968. He also received an LL.M. degree with highest honors from George Washington University in 1972.
Mr. Tuft is a vice-chair of the California State Bar Commission on the revision of the rules of professional conduct and a former chair to the California State Bar Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct. He is a member of the ABA Center on Professional Responsibility and its editorial board. Mr. Tuft currently serves as immediate Past President of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers. He is a frequent lecturer and writer on professional responsibility issues and has received several teaching awards.
