Mark Herwig
The General Electric Company (GE) is an approximate $150B company serving a vast array of customers in over 100 countries and territories.
In his current capacity, Mr. Herwig leads GE's global program and cross-company teams on chemical and product regulatory compliance. Breadth of this program includes aspects related to management of chemical substances in GE's manufacturing operations, as well as those comprising its manufactured products. Functionally this involves activities related to regulatory advocacy, research & development, toxicology and risk assessment, new product introduction, related operating management systems, regulatory reporting, compliance assurance and commercial stewardship.
Mr. Herwig joined GE in 1990 as a site Environmental Engineer, after several years in the utility industry, and has worked progressively to increasing leadership roles across GE, to his current assignment as Leader, Global Product Stewardship and Chemicals Program, which is part of GE's corporate environmental, health and safety programs.
Mr. Herwig is a graduate of Clarkson University (Potsdam, NY) in 1985 (B.S.), with additional graduate-level work completed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY). Mr. Herwig has also completed a variety of Executive Leadership programs through GE's Crotonville Training Institute.
