Madhavi Batliboi is an associate in the Technology Transactions Group and the Privacy and Data Security Group in Morrison & Foerster's New York office. Ms. Batliboi's practice is focused on critical Internet, media, and technology deals, as well as on counseling clients with respect to domestic and international privacy and data security issues.
Ms. Batliboi has considerable experience working on transactions involving a wide range of technologies, including computer software and hardware, Internet and electronic commerce, entertainment and content licensing, traditional media and new media, and emerging technologies. She has worked with Internet, motion picture, television, cable, music, software, retail, finance, multimedia, and pharmaceutical companies in structuring, negotiating, and drafting many different types of agreements that involve the exploitation of content and technology. She also has extensive experience counseling clients on intellectual property issues in the context of mergers, acquisitions, and other large corporate transactions.
Ms. Batliboi also advises clients regarding their obligations under domestic and international privacy and data security laws. She counsels clients regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and transfer of personal information as organizations seek to comply with U.S. and international data protection laws. She regularly assists clients in responding to data breach incidents; advises clients regarding compliance with state data breach notification laws; and drafts and reviews privacy policies; terms of service agreements; and breach notification notices.
Ms. Batliboi has presented on technology law and privacy issues to a number of clients. Prior to law school, Ms. Batliboi was a business analyst in the Internet Account Acquisitions group at Capital One. She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2005, and her B.A. in economics from Brandeis University in 2000. While at Columbia, she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and business editor for the Journal of Gender and Law.
Ms. Batliboi is fluent in Hindi and is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
