Louis S. Sartori

Louis S. Sartori is the Director of the Pro Bono Practice at The Legal Aid Society in New York City. The Legal Aid Society is the nation’s oldest and largest provider of free legal services to the indigent and represents over 300,000 clients each year. The Pro Bono Practice partners with attorneys from the private bar to assist the Society's staff in handling matters for clients in their Civil, Criminal Defense and Juvenile Rights practices.
 
Prior to joining the Pro Bono Practice, Mr. Sartori was the Attorney-in-Charge of the Society's Manhattan and Staten Island Juvenile Rights trial offices where he was responsible for the supervision and training of over 70 attorneys and para-professionals and oversaw the initiation of programs focusing on literacy and the needs of adolescents transitioning from foster care. Mr. Sartori began his legal career as a judicial law clerk in the Superior Court of New Jersey. He then worked as a Staff Attorney in both the Juvenile Rights and Criminal Defense practices of Legal Aid, as well as in private practice. Mr. Sartori has also served as an Adjunct Professor at St. John's University School of Law and as faculty for several National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) and Practicing Law Institute (PLI) programs.

He previously served on the NYS Supreme Court First Department Family Court Advisory Committee and the Chief Administrative Judge’s Family Court Advisory and Rules Committee. Mr. Sartori is currently a member of the New York City Bar Association Committee on Pro Bono and Legal Services.
