Lewis J. Liman

Lewis J. Liman is a partner at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP, where his practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, securities class action and corporate derivative lawsuits, and on white-collar defense matters and investigations. He frequently represents both financial institutions and industrial companies in civil litigation and individuals and corporations in criminal and regulatory investigations. He is a 1987 graduate of the Yale Law School and clerked for the Honorable Pierre N. Leval in the United States District Court and for the Honorable John Paul Stevens in the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Liman has been recognized by Chambers USA, Benchmark Litigation: The Definitive Guide to America's Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys, The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers magazine, and The Legal 500. He is active in bar association activities and was a member of The Chief Judge's Task Force on Commercial Litigation in the 21st Century. He has written and lectured frequently on topics in civil litigation and securities litigation.
