Katherine Barecchia's practice includes patent litigation, opinions, and the prosecution of patent applications. She counsels domestic and foreign clients with respect to intellectual property strategies, including:
  • patent mining programs
  • patent infringement strategies
  • patent invalidity strategies
  • patent litigation
  • patent portfolio development
  • market clearance analysis for new products
  • joint defense agreements
  • patent infringement opinions
  •  patent invalidity opinions


In addition to her intellectual property practice, Ms. Barecchia also handles commercial litigation matters in both state court and federal court. As a member of the Virginia Bar, Ms. Barecchia serves as local counsel for cases pending in Virginia state and federal courts, including the Eastern District of Virginia.

As a member of the consumer financial services team, Ms. Barecchia regularly represents lenders and financial institutions in a variety of consumer finance litigation matters in federal and state court.  She is experienced with motions practice, oral argument, the discovery process, and trial.
Ms. Barecchia is fluent in French.

Community Service & Affiliations

Ms. Barecchia is a member of Blank Rome's Pro Bono Committee in the Washington office and is a past member of the Executive Committee for the Washington Area Vanderbilt Alumni Association. She is also a member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.
