June Witterschein is the Director of Continuing Legal Education and Professional Development for the New York City Law Department, where she started her legal career in 1978 after graduating from St John's University Law School. At the Law Department, June spent nine years in the Appeals Division, and while there, she appeared on behalf of the City of New York in the Appellate Divisions, the Court of Appeals and the Second Circuit many times.
June then served as the Deputy Chief of the Division of Legal Counsel, where she participated in drafting Corporation Counsel opinions, City legislation, proposed amendments to the New York City Charter, and generally was involved in counseling City agencies and the Mayor's office. During a hiatus from the Law Department, June served as a law clerk to the late Judge Sylvia Pressler, a Presiding Judge in the New Jersey Appellate Division, and she taught for nine years at Seton Hall University School of Law, before rejoining the Law Department in 2003.
