Julie Divola heads the tax practice for the San Francisco office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. She is experienced in federal income tax planning for business and financial transactions. Her practice focuses on corporate and partnership taxation with particular emphasis on domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and restructurings.
Julie is active in the American Bar Association’s Section of Taxation, where she serves as Vice Chair (Publications) and Editor-in-Chief, The Tax Lawyer. She is also a member of the advisory board of the New York University Institute on Federal Taxation, a member of the Wolters Kluwer Law & Business (CCH), Legal Tax Advisory Board, and a member of the editorial board of the Practical Tax Lawyer. She is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Julie’s previous positions include Council, Chair of the Corporate Tax Committee and member of the Nominating Committee of the ABA Section of Taxation, Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the California State Bar Association Tax Section and president of the San Francisco Tax Club.
She is a Visiting Lecturer at Berkeley Law where she teaches Corporate Tax. She has also taught Corporate Tax as a Visiting Professor at the UC Davis School of Law and Tax Policy as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of San Francisco School of Law. Julie serves as Secretary and Trustee for the van Löben Sels/Rembe Rock Foundation (a private foundation that promotes social justice issues).
