Judy Miles is Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary for Kimpton Group Holding LLC, parent company of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. Ms. Miles is responsible for the overall legal function of the company and its subsidiaries, including operations, development, investments, intellectual property/brand identity and corporate administration. Ms. Miles began her career with Kimpton in January of 2009, after 24 years in the private practice of law.
During her years in private practice (most recently with the Goodwin Procter law firm, and before that, with the Heller Ehrman law firm), Ms. Miles had a wide-ranging commercial real estate practice, including hotel transactions, joint ventures, financings, real property sales and acquisitions, leasing, and land use issues. She developed a particular focus on the representation of hotel operators, owners and lenders in a variety of matters relating to the acquisition, development, financing, management and sale of hotels, resorts, branded residential properties and branded fractional ownership properties, throughout the U.S. and internationally. Ms. Miles has also worked extensively in the area of real estate finance, including the structuring and negotiation of creative debt and equity financing transactions, and the workout and restructuring of troubled investments.
Ms. Miles is a past member of the adjunct facility for Stanford Law School (teaching real estate transactions). She has been recognized for inclusion in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.
Ms. Miles holds an A.B. in human biology from Stanford University (1981) as well as a J.D. from Harvard Law School (1984).
