John Hamlin is Chief Employment Counsel for Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc., a global professional services firm that provides advice and solutions in the areas of risk, strategy and human capital. With over 52,000 employees in more than 100 countries and annual revenue exceeding $11 billion, Marsh & McLennan is the parent company of Marsh, the insurance broker and risk advisor; Guy Carpenter, the risk and reinsurance specialist; Mercer, the provider of HR and related financial advice and services; and Oliver Wyman, the management consultancy.

Prior to joining Marsh & McLennan, Mr. Hamlin was Of Counsel with Paul, Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP. While in private practice, he represented employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, before various state and federal courts and administrative agencies, and provided advice on an array of personnel-related issues.

Mr. Hamlin received his law degree with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Connecticut Journal of International Law and a member of the Connecticut Moot Court Board. After law school, he served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable B. Avant Edenfield, Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia in Savannah. Earlier this year he was elected a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
