John M. White

John M. White began his career as a civil engineer with the Federal Highway Administration. Following 5 years as a field and design civil engineer, he worked in the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Examiner for automobile transmissions, clutches, and related control systems. He later became a Special Assistant to the Commissioner of Patents writing speeches. Following his JD from George Washington University Law School, Mr. White entered private practice in 1987, and started his own firm, Longacre & White, in 1988. In 1998, Mr. White merged his firm and formed Berenato & White. He has more than 28 years experience in all aspects of intellectual property, including patent and trademark prosecution, litigation, infringement and validity analysis and opinion writing. Mr. White has served as an expert witness in numerous patent litigation matters and has also successfully argued before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Patent Office Board of Appeals and Interferences. Mr. White is also the Author and Chair of the PLI Patent Bar Review program and has been preparing applicants for the exam since 1987.
