Jocelyne Martinez is a Supervising Attorney in the Legal Aid Society's Civil Practice. Ms. Martinez supervises the Government Benefits Unit in her office and specializes in issues regarding social security disability, supplemental security income benefits, public assistance and food stamps benefits. Ms. Martinez works with pro bono attorney volunteers affiliated with The Legal Aid society on such cases and provides mentoring and support. Prior to becoming a supervisor, Ms. Martinez represented clients in family law actions, contested divorce actions, custody and child support proceedings. She also represented clients with consumer law issues and in housing proceedings. Currently, Ms. Martinez co-directs the Society's city-wide law practice. She is an alumni of the PLI faculty, having previously taken part in presentations on Social Security practice, handling the domestic violence case, and conducting client interviews. Ms. Martinez is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and is admitted in NYS courts and in the Eastern District of New York.
