Attorney Joanne Thelmo, whose distinguished legal career includes significant experience in the non-profit, corporate and government arenas, serves the American Cleaning Institute as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.
Ms. Thelmo's previous positions include General Counsel and Senior Vice President at the National Community Pharmacists Association; Associate General Counsel at Conservation International; and Corporate Counsel at France Telecom North America; and Senior Business Affairs Attorney at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
As ACI's chief legal officer, Ms. Thelmo is a member of the senior management group and oversees all association corporate governance and related legal activities, serves as the primary liaison to members of ACI's Legal Committee, and provides legal guidance to the association and its members on relevant laws, regulations and court decisions as well as serves as corporate secretary.
Ms. Thelmo earned her Juris Doctorate at Georgetown Law, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Georgetown University; and completed studies in Comparative Asian Law at the National University of Singapore Law School, and in French studies at L'Université de Caen, France.
Ms. Thelmo has served as a law clerk for the United States Senate Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight and the Courts and clerked for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Board of Contract Appeals. She is a member of the District of Columbia and United States Supreme Court bars.'
