Jana Broadhurst is in her final year of training with the Medical Scientist Training Program (M.D.-Ph.D.) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She completed her doctorate in Immunology investigating the role of chronic inflammation in the pathogenesis of HIV and common parasitic infections. Her clinical training has provided broad exposure to patient care settings, including extensive work with low-income patients in both urban and rural hospitals (such as San Francisco General Hospital and Natividad Medical Center), community primary care clinics, and regional quaternary care centers. She has been actively engaged in teaching medical Microbiology and Immunology and developing science curricula for under-resourced schools. Jana is a graduate of the University of Oregon (B.S. summa cum laude in Biology, 2005), the UCSF Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program (Ph.D. 2011), and will receive her M.D. from the UCSF School of Medicine in 2014.
