James Fenniman is Executive Vice President of the New York Division of Bollinger, Inc. a large regional insurance brokerage founded in 1876, recognized as the 5th largest privately held broker, including Banks & Public firms the 17th largest. At Bollinger, Mr. Fenniman is involved with various aspects of the New York Division's sales, industry and government relations. For the firm, he sits on the New York Management Committee, and is Chair of the Construction Trades Practice Group, which he was instrumental in developing. This Group brought together in one client based platform the Risk Management Services Division providing Safety Management & OSHA Compliance, Claims Review along with the Surety Bonding Practice. Mr. Fenniman remains active in the Real Estate & Construction Trades by participating in many of the local seminars and conferences.
Mr. Fenniman has been instrumental in developing Bollinger's long-term representation of Real Estate Owners, Cooperative and Condominiums resulting in The New York Cooperator consistently ranking Bollinger as one of the top two insurance brokers. Mr. Fenniman served as an insurance broker representative on REBNY's "Owners Insurance Task Force" which focused on terrorism insurance issues during 2002.
With 40 years experience in the insurance and risk management fields, Mr. Fenniman has a broad educational and professional background. He received his B.S. in Economics from Wagner College and his MBA in Risk Management at the St. John's University Peter J.Tobin Graduate School of Business. After graduate school, he studied Scientific Methods of Risk Management in a pre-doctoral program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He then returned to his alma mater to become an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Risk Management and Finance at the Peter J.Tobin Graduate School of Business. In addition, Mr. Fenniman attained the professional designation "Associate in Risk Management" (ARM), from the Insurance Institute of America. Currently he is a faculty member of the Practicing Law Institute, New York, serving on the Panel for "Negotiating Commercial Leases 2010" and the Continuing Professional Education faculty of St.John's University. For over ten years he has been on the President's list of Wagner College, as one of the most distinguished graduates. Rosemary Scanlon, Consultant in Urban Economics referred to Mr. Fenniman's as an expert in Construction Insurance Costs in her July 2008 study "Raise the Roof, lower the costs: Construction Costs and Housing Affordability in New York City.
Mr. Fenniman has developed a high profile in the insurance brokerage community. In addition to serving on numerous insurance carrier producer councils, he was elected to the Board of the Insurance Brokers Association of the State of New York (a 110 year old organization representing the commercial insurance brokerage community), served as an officer and was elected its President in 1992. Currently he serves on the Government Affairs and Past Presidents Committee. Mr. Fenniman is First Vice President of the Players Club in Gramercy Park.
