Hon. Stephen Kaus is a judge of the California Superior Court in Alameda County.  He currently is assigned to a civil caseload in Hayward.  After graduating from the Boalt Hall School of Law at U.C. Berkeley in 1973, Judge Kaus was a Deputy Public Defender in Contra Costa County until 1980.  He then practiced in San Francisco for 33 years including at Kaus, Kerr & Wagstaffe from 1981 through 1990 and at Cooper White and Cooper from 1993 through 2013.  He taught criminal trial practice at Boalt and assisted James Wagstaffe in his Federal Civil Procedure class at the University of San Francisco.
