Hon. William C. Hillman

William C. Hillman is a Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts and also serves on the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the First Circuit. He was originally appointed to the bankruptcy bench in 1991 and reappointed in 2005. Prior to his appointment he practiced for more than thirty-three years in the areas of commercial and insolvency law. He is a graduate of Boston University where he received his J.D. (cum laude) and LL.M. degrees and was Note Editor of the Law Review. He is the author of five books on bankruptcy and commercial law subjects, including Documenting Secured Transactions (2d ed.). He is also the author of more than thirty articles on legal subjects and is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy and business law issues, and a member of the American College of Bankruptcy as well as a Life Member of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. He also teaches at Northeastern University Law School.
