Hon. Sidney H. Stein

Judge Stein was graduated from Princeton University and Yale Law School. Following his graduation, he clerked for the Chief Judge of the State of New York and Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals. Judge Stein was a partner in a litigation firm he founded from 1981 until becoming a United States District Judge in May 1995. He was nominated to that position by President William J. Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. He previously served on the boards of directors of several legal service organizations and has lectured at many continuing legal education programs and law school classes and was a monthly columnist for a legal newspaper for a decade. Judge Stein was also a member of the U.S. Delegation to the Special Commission on the Practical Operation of the Hague Convention in 2001.
