Hélène M. Heberlein is a managing director and head of European covered bonds at Fitch Ratings. She has been in charge of the Fitch’s covered bonds analytical team since its creation in May 2004. The team is responsible for assigning and maintaining ratings of legislative (such as Pfandbriefe in Germany, cédulas hipotecarias in Spain, and obligations foncières in France) and contractual covered bonds issued by financial institutions and backed by mortgage or public sector cover pools.
Previously, she led the Fitch Paris-based European Structured Finance team, which is dedicated to the rating of French and Belgian structured finance transactions, backed by corporate assets (such as trade receivables or inventory), as well as financial assets (such as consumer or residential loans). Prior to joining Fitch in 1998, she was a product manager for asset-backed transactions at Westdeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale. Ms. Heberlein graduated from the European School of Management ESCP-EAP (Paris-Oxford-Berlin) in 1991.
