Fabené J. Welch is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of EnerVest, Ltd. Prior to joining EnerVest in February 2008, she was a Partner at Haynes and Boone, LLP, after serving as Partner at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP.
Ms. Welch has held several leadership positions with the State Bar of Texas Oil Gas and Energy Resources Law Section, most recently serving as Chair for the 2010-11 term. She was also Chair of the Houston Bar Association's Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section and served as President and Director of the Houston Producer's Forum.
A committed supporter of the arts in Houston, Ms. Welch has been involved with numerous local organizations including the Houston Arts Alliance, where she has held the positions of President and Vice-President of the Board of Directors and currently serves on the Advisory Council; Business Volunteers for the Arts; Houston Grand Opera; Houston Symphony; and the Cultural Arts Council of Houston/Harris County.
In addition to her professional and cultural affiliations, she is a Senior Fellow, Class XXVII, of the American Leadership Forum.
Ms. Welch received her B.A. from Rice University, majoring in French and Spanish. She earned her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center where she was Managing Editor of the Houston Law Review. She is board certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and publishes and presents on topics relating to oil, gas and energy resources law.
