Marcia Werchol, M.D., is the Senior Director of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation's Family Court Mental Health Services program, which performs on-site forensic evaluations ordered by the New York City Family Court in all counties except Richmond and in most litigation categories except custody/visitation. She is a New York State-licensed physician, board-certified in General / Adult Psychiatry, and board-eligible in Forensic Psychiatry and Adolescent Psychiatry. She serves on a variety of professional committees, including the Family Court Advisory Council, has consulted on multiple court-related initiatives, including the specialized 1027/1028 part, and teaches forensics to child and adolescent psychiatry residents from New York University Medical School and other programs.
Dr. Werchol attended Boston public schools, earned a bachelor's degree in Biology cum laude from Harvard University in 1976 and graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1981. She completed a four-year residency in Psychiatry in 1985 at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and a one-year fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry in 1986 at the New York University Medical School. Upon the conclusion of her training, she obtained part-time positions as an attending physician at the Bellevue Forensic Psychiatry In-patient Unit and as a staff clinician at FCMHS. She has been exclusively employed at FCMHS full-time since 1987 and served as clinic director in Manhattan and Brooklyn and as program-wide training coordinator prior to becoming senior director in 2000.
