Deborah H. Kaye, Managing Direct and Senior Managing Counsel of BNY Mellon, currently oversees multiple areas of BNY Mellon's Legal Department, including their capital markets firm, their futures clearing firm, a money market mutual fund electronic platform, and various start ups. She is the first chair of the newly established Global Mellon Legal Department Pro Bono Program, which won the City Bar Justice Center Award and the Zelon Award from the Pro Bono Institute and is operating in 12 cities and 8 countries. BNY Mellon's Pro Bono program  and its General Jane Sherburne was recently awarded the 2012 Zelon Award and the City Bar Justice Center 2012 Award.

Formerly Kaye was SVP & AGC at Daiwa Securities America Inc. covering multiple areas of securities laws, anti-money laundering, corporate secretary, risk management meetings, derivatives and intellectual property law; Deputy General Counsel of NDB Capital Markets, Inc. and National Discount Brokers; and VP & AGC at JP Morgan Chase where she advised both the institutional and the retail broker-dealers. She attended Trinity College in Connecticut, The London School of Economics and University of Pennsylvania Law School. Kaye has had her Series 7, 24, 14 and 63 securities registrations.

Kaye's charitable and public interest activities have spanned many years. Kaye has been actively involved in the Financial Women's Association for over a dozen years, servicing on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, as General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel, Nominating Committee, Founder and Co-Chair of the Men's Alliance, and Founder and Co-Chair of the Professional Services Liaison Committee for attorneys and accountants.  Kaye was also instrumental is assisting the establishment of L'Association Des Femmes En Finance Du Quebec, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.

 Kaye has been Chairman and Board member of the National Society of Compliance Professionals, and serves on several Securities Industry Financial Markets Association committees and the American Bar Association's Committee on the Federal Regulation of Securities. Kaye's activities have been publicized on The Glass Hammer and Pro Bono Institute websites. Kaye grew up in the deep south, where she was the one of the youngest city commissioners when at the age of 15 she served on the Mayor's First Commission on the Status of Women, and was active in the Legal Aid Society, Ralph Nader's Raiders and Planned Parenthood during her high school and college years.
