David G. Wilkins was named an Associate General Counsel for The Dow Chemical Company in May, 2008 and serves as director of the Office of Global Ethics and Compliance. He reports to Charles J. Kalil, executive vice president, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, with dotted-line responsibility to Andrew N. Liveris, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, as well as to the Audit Committee of the Dow Board of Directors.
Immediately prior to his current role, Wilkins served as Vice President and General Counsel of Union Carbide Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow from August 2005 to May 2008.
Wilkins served as vice president and chief diversity officer of the American Red Cross from February 2004 to August 2005. In his role, he worked closely with their CEO and the leadership of 35 blood centers and more than 800 chapters to increase the diversity of the people, programs and services of the Red Cross.
Prior to moving to the American Red Cross in February 2004, Wilkins was director of Global Diversity for Dow. Wilkins has also served as Michigan Operations site counsel, providing legal advice on labor, employment and environmental matters to Dow sites in Michigan, Ohio, Connecticut, California and Missouri. Wilkins joined Dow in 1987 after 10 years of private law practice in the Chicago area, and has held several assignments within Legal and HR with both Dow and Dow AgroSciences.
Wilkins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Juris Doctor from the University Of Illinois School Of Law. He has attended the Babson College Executive Education program. He has served on the board of fellows of Saginaw Valley State University, and is currently serving on the Board of Trustees of Illinois Wesleyan University.
