David Chambers is President of Barclays Wealth Trustees (U.S.) NA as well as a Director at Barclays Wealth. In this role, he is responsible for leading the Delaware-based national trust company as it continues to grow and working closely with Barclays Wealth Investment Representatives and Private Bankers to provide their clients with best-in-class fiduciary responsibilities.
Mr. Chambers joined Barclays Wealth Trustees in December 2011. His career in private wealth management and fiduciary services, both in the U.S. and overseas, spans more than three decades. He has held several senior trust roles including executive vice president at Bryn Mawr Trust Company in Pennsylvania, chief operating officer at Bessemer Trust Company in New York, and head of both Personal Trust Services and International Trust Services at Merrill Lynch.
While at Merrill, Mr. Chambers established the firm's international trust services, chartered the Federal Savings Bank enabling the firm to offer fiduciary services in all 50 U.S. states, and created a Philanthropic Financial Services group focused on aiding tax-exempt organizations. His responsibilities included chairman and CEO of Merrill Lynch Trust Company FSB; chairman of the trust committee for each related legal entity; and president and CEO of both Merrill Lynch Trust Company (Cayman) Ltd, and Merrill Lynch Trust Company (Jersey) Ltd. More recently, Mr. Chambers helped found a Florida state-chartered trust company, Coral Gables Trust Co., and served as its director and on the Trust and Investment Committee
A native of Ireland, Mr. Chambers began his career as a trust officer in the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, and Guernsey. He moved to the U.S. in 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London."
