Cmmr. Suzanne A. Beddoe

Suzanne A. Beddoe is Commissioner & Chief Administrative Law Judge of the NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH).  As of July 2011, OATH has been comprised of four different administrative tribunals and Ms. Beddoe has managed the agency through a period of change as it has grown into the largest municipal administrative court in the country. During her tenure, OATH has eliminated approximately 10,000 backlogged cases across its tribunals.  Under her leadership, OATH's tribunals have significantly increased access to justice for the hundreds of thousands of respondents who interact with its courts each year through its focus on using innovative technologies. OATH's tribunals have instituted online appeals, hearings-by-phone and hearings online, as well as the use of videoconferencing technology for in-person hearings from remote locations. Ms. Beddoe earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Yale and received her law degree from Columbia Law School.
