Cathy Bump serves as Senior Privacy Counsel for Expedia, Inc. She oversees global compliance with privacy and data security laws across Expedia's subsidiary brands, including Expedia, Hotels.com, Hotwire, and Egencia. Cathy is responsible for Expedia's implementation and maintenance of best practices in connection with privacy, works closely with Expedia's Information Security Team to implement both internal and third party data safeguards, and also guides the shaping of Expedia's positions on privacy issues and legislation.
She also serves as Co-Chair of the Bay Area Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Privacy & eCommerce Committee.
Prior to joining Expedia, she held the position of Vice President of Policy & Legal for TRUSTe, the leading online privacy standard-setting and seal organization. An attorney with diverse experience - encompassing business, litigation, and policy issues -- she initially began specializing in privacy and data security while serving as in-house privacy counsel for Intuit Inc.
Cathy holds a J.D. from Hastings College of the Law and a B.A. in political science from Stanford University. She has been a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) since 2004.
