Ellen MacNeil is a partner in the Washington National Tax office of Deloitte Tax LLP, and is Deloitte's U.S. Managing Partner Consumer & Industrial Products. Ellen has over 35 years of experience in tax consulting. Prior to joining Deloitte Tax LLP, Ellen was a partner with Arthur Andersen where she was Managing Director of Knowledge Management, and had previously led Andersen's National Office Domestic Tax Practice and the Tax Accounting Specialty Group.
Ellen is a member of the Board of Directors of The Tax Council, and has served as chair of the ABA Taxation Section's Tax Accounting Committee and chair of the AICPA's Tax Accounting Committee. She has chaired the ABA Taxation Section's Committee on Government Submissions, and has also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the AICPA's Tax Division.
Ellen received a J.D., cum laude from George Washington University Law School and a B.S. with High Honors in accounting and finance from Drexel University. She is a certified public accountant in the District of Columbia and is admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia.
Ellen has spoken at numerous tax institutes, including the New York University Federal Tax Institute, the Southern Federal Tax Institute, the University of Texas Tax Conference, and at many TEI, PLI and ALI-ABA seminars. Her articles have appeared in Tax Notes, Journal of Taxation, Taxation for Accountants, Taxation for Lawyers, and Journal of Partnership Taxation. She has served as an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law School.
