ADRIENNE B. PITTS
is a litigation partner in the Chicago office of Sidley Austin LLP, with significant civil and criminal trial experience. She practices principally in the areas of complex commercial litigation, antitrust litigation, and white collar defense matters, including conducting corporate internal investigations and counseling clients through federal grand jury, Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission inquiries. Her antitrust and class action litigation representations have involved matters such as bid-rigging, price fixing, monopolization, tying and anti-competitive mergers for Fortune 100 companies in industries including copper fittings, automotive refinishing paint, pharmaceutical
products, oil and telecommunications.
Ms. Pitts’ white collar defense work has included internal investigations and/or trials related to allegations of cartel operations, tax fraud, health care fraud, Medicare fraud, conspiracy and racketeering activity. Prior to joining Sidley, Ms. Pitts was one of the trial attorneys who defended former Illinois Governor George Ryan in his seven-month federal corruption trial.
Ms. Pitts also defends private and public companies in an array of commercial matters including, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary claims, lender liability claims, fraud and other equitable claims.
In May 2007, Ms. Pitts received the Alta May Hulett Award from the Chicago Bar Association’s Alliance For Women for excellence in the practice of law and for promoting the advancement of women in the profession. Ms. Pitts is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and the Chicago Inn of Court.
Ms. Pitts is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Urban League, Inc., and is a member of its Executive Committee. She was recently appointed to the Advisory Board for Chicago Career Tech by Mayor Richard M. Daley. She is Vice President of the Board of Directors of L.E.A.R.N. Charter School and a Board Trustee of High Jump, which provides academic enrichment for gifted low-income students. She is also a 2007 Chicago United Business Leaders of Color honoree
