Winston Krone, Esq. is the Managing Director of Kivu Consulting. He supervises a core group of professionals who specialize in data breach analysis, incident response, computer forensic investigations, and IT risk assessment services.
Winston is trained in multiple computer forensics tools and has testified in federal and state court, and appeared before law enforcement and regulators, on a variety of issues including unauthorized access to IT systems, deletion of digital evidence, and IT security best practices.
In addition to being a court-qualified computer forensics expert, Winston has practiced as an attorney in California and England with a specialization in IP litigation and regulatory actions. He has over 10 years' experience managing investigations in areas including data beach, theft of trade secrets, and IT security. Winston has also advised on the legality of privacy and investigative practices globally. He is a member of the California Bar's CyberSpace Committee, the ABA's CyberSpace Committee, and the Best Practices Committee of the Association of Workplace Investigators. Winston received his law degree from Oxford University, England. He has a graduate certificate in computer forensics from the University of New Haven.
Prior to joining Kivu, Winston was Director of Computer Investigations for a publicly traded US risk management company. As an attorney, he worked for major law firms in London, Brussels and San Francisco. Winston also worked for the US State Department and United Nations as a field officer and senior legal advisor in the Former Yugoslavia and Central Africa.
