Steven D Klein is a partner and Co-Chair of the Real Estate Department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in New York. Mr. Klein specializes in REIT offerings, REIT mergers, joint ventures, formation of investment funds, acquisitions and dispositions, financings, restructurings, and leasing transactions. He represents clients in all types of real estate transactions, and in drafting and negotiating related agreements, including REIT and securitized financing agreements, construction, permanent and mezzanine loan agreements, loan restructuring agreements, partnership and limited liability company agreements, private placement memoranda, property management agreements, construction and development agreements, contracts of sale, retail and office leases, and regional shopping centre agreements.

Mr. Klein is an adjunct professor at the New York University Schack Institute of Real Estate, where he teaches its Commercial Leasing, Key Issues in Today’s Commercial Real Estate Transactions and Advanced Real Estate Development and Investment Practices courses. He also serves on the Schack Institute’s Advisory Board, as well as the Advisory Board for Real Estate Law360. He has published and spoken on a variety of real estate topics for the New York Law Journal, the Practising Law Institute, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the International Council of Shopping Centers, among others. Mr. Klein has also been a member of the Commercial Leasing Committee of the American Bar Association, the Real Estate Development Committee of the New York State Bar Association, the Real Property Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Advisory Board of Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company.
