Naomi Abe Voegtli is a vice president of Intellectual Property ("IP") Strategy and Standards Group at SAP, Europe's largest software company. She is responsible for developing and implementing IP strategies, manages IP issues and policies related to engagement in standards organizations, and handles IP acquisitions and sales worldwide. In addition, she is a vice president of Asia Pacific IP Group and manages all aspects of IP in Asia Pacific including IP portfolio development and management, transaction, litigation, and policy advocacy.
Ms. Voegtli is a Board member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, a national bar association of IP attorneys in the United States with over 15,000 members. She is an AIPLA representative of the US Bar - JPO Liaison Council, and is a member of the US Bar - EPO Liaison Council. In addition, she is active in a number of leading IP and standards organizations.
Ms. Voegtli frequently publishes and lectures on various IP topics including IP strategies and monetization, IP licensing, IP and anti-monopoly issues related to standards, and IP laws in China, Korea and Japan. She has lectured not only in the United States, but also in Europe and Asia.
Ms. Voegtli earned her J.D. from the Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, her M.S. in computer science and mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her B.S. in mathematics, with highest honors, from the University of Texas at Austin. After graduation from the Harvard Law School, she served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Judge John S. Martin, Jr. at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Ms. Voegtli is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia and the states of California and New York. She is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
