Jeffrey Neuburger is a Partner in the New York office, co-head of the Technology, Media & Communications Group and a member of the Privacy & Data Security Group.
Jeff's practice focuses on technology, media and advertising-related business transactions and counseling of clients in the utilization of emerging technology and distribution methods.
Jeff drafts and negotiates agreements related to most types of transactions in the media, advertising, content and technology areas, including joint ventures, strategic alliances, licenses, affiliation agreements, distribution agreements, development agreements, and advertising agreements, among others.
In addition, Jeff counsels clients on a wide range of privacy and data security matters, including the implementation of policies, the management of information, and responding to situations of potential unauthorized access to personally identifiable information.
Jeff also advises on issues including open source, mobile marketing, intellectual property (including issues relating to music licensing and issues under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act), publisher liability (particularly related to issues under the Communications Decency Act), electronic signatures, "terms of use," and digital rights management.
Jeff is an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University School of Law teaching E-Commerce Law, and is co-author of two books, Doing Business on the Internet and Emerging Technologies and the Law. Founder of the monthly newsletter, New Media, Technology and the Law, Jeff writes two blogs, PBS's "MediaShift" blog,http://www.pbs.org/mediashift/jeffrey-d-neuburger-1/, as well as Proskauer's Technology, Media and Communications blog, http://newmedialaw.proskauer.com/. He also has served on advisory panels to Congress, and is regularly quoted by mainstream general and trade publications.
Prior to practicing law, Jeff completed General Electric Company's two-year Information Systems Management Program and spent an additional four years in Information Systems Management at GE Capital. His undergraduate degree is in computer science and applied mathematics. Jeff has been recognized as a leading technology lawyer in various publications and directories.
